handmade card ideas

in case you still need some ideas for your handmade valentine swap cards, here are a few diy ideas i've found around the web recently:

add fun embellishments like these buttons on a card by maggie holmes [spied on the american crafts blog]:

using a sewing machine [or hand-stitching!] is always a nice touch, like this stitched bunting from vintage fern:

another idea...get a paper punch and use different shapes and papers to make designs [like this repeated butterfly punch thank you card by paige evans], or just punch once and stick it on a card!

find a pretty stamp -- make it the focal point of your card, like this one from kwerner design, or use it to embellish another design:
