seattle locals: downeast basics

another new column: seattle locals! this is still first and foremost a stationery blog, but since i've arrived in seattle i've had a blast learning all about my new city and i want to share it with you! once in a while i'll be popping in with cool local news and places to check out. whether you already live in the emerald city or you're planning a visit, i hope these suggestions will help you out. find all the seattle local posts under the seattle tab -- all seattle paper posts have moved to their own column.

a few weeks ago i was invited to a blogger mixer at downeast basics at the southcenter mall. i've been a fan of downeast for a looong time (they're based in salt lake city so i used to shop there all the time when i lived in utah) and i was so excited to go and check out their new line!

downeast specializes in current, modern and modest clothes -- so you can stay trendy even if you're not into letting it all hang out ;) they've got skirts, dresses, tops, pajamas, and my personal favorite: camis in every color you can imagine. i have a long torso and it's hard to find shirts that are long enough for me, so i wear a downeast cami almost every day ;)

here are a couple of my favorite pieces, all available in stores or online right now:

here's me with a few of the other bloggers in attendance (with our guest bags -- downeast was nice enough to give us all catalogs and a couple fashionable goodies to take home). i stole this photo from the lovely sarah at cable car couture -- glad someone brought a camera :)

i totally recommend checking out downeast if you're in the mood to spice up your wardrobe. i mean, one can only shop at forever 21 and h&m so many times before getting a little bored ;)

  1. I like your idea for this new feature but I think it is going to make me wish I live in Seattle. Sure hope your features all have online links. :)

  2. Cute! I like the polka dot pussy-bow blouse you saw at Downeast. I have one like it in black and white that is lovely.
