seattle locals: row house cafe

i love the row house cafe. it's a tasty little restaurant hidden on a quiet street near south lake union and you feel like you made a really special find as soon as you walk in the door. the restaurant is built inside an old abandoned home with creaky floors, salvaged doors and original wood, but they've got a delicious menu full of homey comfort food and good treats. (the vanilla shortbread is my favorite!)

here's a cool article from the RE store blog about how the design & sourcing for row house came about. they've got a great picture of the front counter, too -- isn't this place charming? very PNW:

row house also has a fun secret: there's a meeting room out back that can fit 25-30 people, so if you're planning a baby shower or a team lunch or a group meetup and need a private area, you can reserve the space! we've been using it for the seattle blogger meetups over the past few months and it has been the perfect little space. (here's an action shot of all of us bloggers chatting it up.)

if you're ever in the neighborhood, i highly recommend row house cafe for breakfast, lunch or dinner. and word on the street is that they're opening a sister shop right across the street, so stay tuned for more. i definitely wouldn't be sad if row house took over the whole city.
