a summer of unplugging: AUGUST

i started out this month without a scheduled day to unplug, just figured i'd fit it in sometime before the 20th...and then things got crazy. i was working a ton, feeling overscheduled and stressed out -- and then everything came to a head one friday afternoon when i came down with a full-blown migraine headache. i think it's safe to say i was ready to get far, far away from my computer by the time the weekend of august 11 rolled around, so i was more than ready to unplug!

the weather here in seattle has been BEAUTIFUL lately, so the hubs and i decided to take full advantage and headed over to lake union. we went paddle boarding and had lunch overlooking the boats and bridges. we spent the rest of the day at home, bbq-ing, hanging out with friends, making s'mores with our new fire pit and watching our favorite tv show. we went to bed sunburned and happy that night -- a sign of a perfect summer day.

i'm not going to lie, i have loved forcing myself to unplug this summer. i think i'm going to keep it up! after working so hard all week, i've really started to look forward to technology-free weekends and don't spend as much time on the computer as usual. in fact, i've even made an effort to leave the phone alone during the week. life is so hectic and crazy and i feel like things get even more complicated when i'm constantly distracted by my phone or logging on to my computer -- i love being able to put it away and focus on what's happening right in front of me.
